Put CoreRail on your phone
CoreRail goes on your phone straight from the web. There's nothing to download from the App Store or Google Play. Once it's on your home screen it opens like any other app and can notify you about new messages, time-off decisions and shift swaps. It takes about two minutes.
iPhone
Add it to your Home Screen
Use Safari. Other iPhone browsers can't turn on notifications. You'll also need iOS 16.4 or newer: check in Settings, then General, then About.
Open Safari, go to coffeeshop.creativecorerail.com/login and sign in with the email and password your manager gave you.
CoreRail shows a short reminder of these steps at the top of the screen.
Tap the three dots next to the address bar, then tap Share.
On iOS 18 and older, tap the Share button in the bar at the bottom of the screen instead.
Scroll down the list and tap Add to Home Screen.
Leave Open as Web App switched on, then tap Add.
Older versions of iOS don't show that switch. Just tap Add.
Open CoreRail from the new icon on your Home Screen. If it asks you to sign in again, that's normal. The Home Screen app keeps its own sign-in, separate from Safari.
Turn on notifications
Open CoreRail from the Home Screen icon, not from Safari. iPhones only allow notifications from apps on the Home Screen.
Tap More at the bottom of the screen, then Settings.
In the Notifications box, tap Enable.
The first time you open the app, the same Enable button may also show at the top of the screen.
Tap Allow when your iPhone asks. The box then says Notifications are on for this device.
If something's not working
There's no Add to Home Screen
You're probably inside another app's browser, which happens when you tap a link in an email or a social app. Copy the address and paste it into Safari.
There's no Enable button
You're most likely in Safari instead of the Home Screen app. Open CoreRail from its icon. If you still don't see it, update your iPhone to iOS 16.4 or newer.
I tapped Don't Allow
Open your iPhone's Settings app, tap Notifications, find CoreRail in the list and switch on Allow Notifications.
Notifications are on but nothing arrives
Check that a Focus or Do Not Disturb mode isn't silencing them. Swipe down from the top-right corner of the screen to see which one is on.
Android
Add it to your home screen
Use Chrome. It's the browser most Android phones come with. Samsung Internet works too; see the tips below.
Open Chrome, go to coffeeshop.creativecorerail.com/login and sign in with the email and password your manager gave you.
If CoreRail shows an Install CoreRail bar, tap Install and skip to step 4.
Otherwise, tap the three dots at the top right, then Add to home screen, then Install.
Some versions of Chrome call it Install app instead. Either one works.
Confirm with Install. The icon shows up on your home screen and in your app list, and CoreRail opens in its own window.
Turn on notifications
Open CoreRail from its icon.
Tap More at the bottom of the screen, then Settings.
In the Notifications box, tap Enable.
The first time you open the app, the same Enable button may also show at the top of the screen.
Tap Allow when your phone asks. The box then says Notifications are on for this device.
If something's not working
There's no Install option
Make sure you're in Chrome and that Chrome is up to date in the Play Store. In Samsung Internet, tap the menu button, then Add page to, then Home screen.
I tapped Don't allow
Press and hold the CoreRail icon, tap App info, then Notifications, and turn them on. Then go back to CoreRail's Settings and tap Enable.
Notifications are on but nothing arrives
Check that Do Not Disturb is off. Battery Saver can also hold notifications back, so try turning it off.
Good to know
- CoreRail updates itself. You always get the current version when you open it.
- Notifications are set up one phone at a time. If you get a new phone, run through these steps again.
